Javier Lumbreras

Javier Lumbreras

Born into a distinguished family in Spain with a long history of success in banking, real estate and art, Javier Lumbreras has combined these interests to forge his own path in the United States.

After spending his high school years in the United Kingdom and earning a B.S. degree in business and finance at St, Louis University in Missouri, Javier turned his attention to art and soon was recognized for his keen awareness of the market and his perceptiveness as both businessman and collector.

Yet art remains foremost in his mind and his business activities. Over the past 25 years, he has amassed one of the significant collections of art works in this country. It now comprises nearly one thousand contemporary pieces including recognized masterpieces from Velazquez to Warhol. As his name began to be well established in the art world, Javier was invited to serve as a consultant to private collectors, museums and various art institutions around the globe, and began a 20-year association with both Christie’s and Sotheby’s.

Javier has long been President/Owner of Artemundi & Company Inc., a Miami, Florida-based company that works closely with museums and galleries throughout the world. He is also Founder and Managing Partner of Artemundi Global Fund, a 150-250 million dollar opportunistic and asset appreciating art fund that has partnered with leading firms providing banking, legal, auditing, custodian and administrative services. Now, he is also engaged in developing a prototype facility in Miami called Art Vault & Valuables Services (AVVS) which has as its mission the safekeeping and global management of art collections and other valuables. The company is working with one of today's most notable architects, Chad Oppenheim, to develop the facility with the intention of expanding the concept to 20-25 other markets in the U.S. and abroad over the next six or seven years.

As a serious art collector, Javier well knows the value of educating, caring, managing, safekeeping and providing financial services to both collectors and investors in valuables of one sort or another. In fact, he is about to publish what may well prove to be the definitive work on art collecting in the 21st Century. Titled The Art of Collecting Art, it will present a clear picture of this unregulated and often-mystifying industry.
